Hi, My name is Cody Gallagher, I am a 8th grader and a 6 year member of the Busy Bison
4-H Club.
On this site I will tell you about my community service project and keep you updated on it's progress. I will
also list things I am collecting and ways you can help.
R-E-A-D is my community sevice project that I am now working on. 61% of low-income children have no age-appropriate
books in their homes. On average, children in economically poor communities have 1-2 age-appropriate books in their homes.
Access to printed materials has been found to be the critical variable effecting reading. 37% of all fourth grade children
in the U.S. are functionaly illiterate.
My goal is to try get books into the hands of children who can gain from early reading and family interaction.
